Road closure following accident.

A road was closed and two elderly men were rushed to hospital following a car crash.
Fire crews and police were called to Leighton Buzzard Road in Hemel Hempstead at around 4.45pm yesterday (February 7) the two cars collided near Potten End Hill.

The road was closed for more than two hours.

Crew commander Paul Adams from Hemel Hempstead Fire Service's white watch, said: "The road was blocked in both directions because both cars had turned round and was had closed it as a matter of safety."

The two men were taken to Watford General Hospital with suspected spinal injuries.

Mr Adams said: "Both men were cut out of their cars using hydraulic equipment and extracated from the vehicle on spinal boards."

The fire service left the scene at around 6pm.
