Car and lorry smash on A5

A man had to be cut free from his car after it collided with a lorry.

The accident happened on the A5 at Markyate just before 6pm on Thursday.

Firefighters used cutting equipment to free the man from his green Citroen Xantia. He was taken to Luton and Dunstable Hospital with injuries that are believed to have not been life threatening.

The road was reopened by police just after 7pm.
