County sees the light after safety appeal

An appeal for a street light to shine out throughout the night has been victorious after months of waiting.
The missing light, at the junction of Broadfield Road and Old House Road in Adeyfield, was considered a safety hazard during the dark hours by people living in the area.
The cause was taken up by Herts county councillor Ron Tindall, who raised the issue in January, and the light was finally converted by a crew from highways contractor Ringway on Friday.
The conversion had been treated as ‘urgent’ due to the time taken to respond and review the safety in the area.
A council spokesman said: “The council works extensively with police, road safety experts and community safety units of district councils before implementing changes.
“Councillors were able to represent local perspectives on the changes while at the same time being appreciative of the need to control costs.”
A full review of night-lighting is planned later this year.
