Good hospital provisions mean patients fund in Tring laid to rest

A charity that provides medical equipment to people who have been discharged from hospital has disbanded because it is no longer needed.

Tring Patients Medical Fund, which will wind up today at its final annual general meeting, will split the £42,000 left in the fund between Iain Rennie Grove House Hospice Care, Chilterns MS Centre, Rossway Riding for the Disabled Association and Age UK Dacorum.

The fund was launched in 1987 by Tring and District Rotary Club in partnership with Tring Lions Club after a consultation identified a need for a bank of medical equipment which was not readily available though the NHS.

Founder Peter Coneron said: “The NHS deliver equipment quicker than it used to and now demand for our service is very little.

“The Red Cross will take over.

“We are extremely pleased with what we have achieved.”
