Help baseball group to hit a home run
Herts Baseball Club needs a volunteer co-ordinator.
HANDS-ON volunteers are needed to help out at dementia cafes in Tring and Boxmoor.
Helpers will be given training by the Alzheimer’s Society so that they will be able to give information and support to folk with dementia and their carers.
Volunteers will also help set up tables, provide refreshments and help run activities.
Sessions run on Mondays at Tring from 10am to midday and Tuesdays at Boxmoor from 10am to midday.
Good listening and communication skills, empathy and a willingness to learn about dementia are essential.
> Someone to keep a record of volunteers and be a point of contact for members and non-members of a sporting club is required.
Herts Baseball Club, pictured, needs an individual who can act as an alternative contact to the welfare officer.
The volunteer co-ordinator will be happy to work as part of a team, have experience of Microsoft Excel and Word and be comfortable communicating via email, telephone and perhaps social networking sites.
The helper will also need to provide a telephone/mobile number and an email address to receive correspondence.
> An outdoors lover who likes dealing with the public and selling is needed to lend a hand on a charity market stall and shop.
You’ll also be helping local adults with learning difficulties to develop their own retail work experiences with the Sunnyside Rural Trust.
The group sells produce it has grown at weekly markets and at its on-site shops in Berkhamsted and Northchurch.
The right helper will have good people skills, be confident and competent handling money, reliable, an enthusiastic team player but also happy to work alone on projects.
