Jessica Whelan and Megan Hart are abseiling in memory of Megan's dad Dave, who died at the Hospice of St Francis.

A grieving teenager is completing a daring abseil in memory of her dad, who died only last month.

Ashlyns School pupil Megan Hart, 14, is taking the challenge with best friend Jessica Whelan from Hemel Hempstead to raise money for the Hospice of St Francis, where Dave Hart spent his last days.

The pair will scale the Dixons building in Maylands.

Megan said: “Before he died, dad said he wanted me to do it. He is the one who thought of all the names and slogans for our team. I have known Jessica for a long time and she is going through the same as me, we are both still upset and coping together.”

The girls set an initial target of £200, which has swelled to an incredible £4,500.

Visit justgiving.com/sarah-whelan1 to sponsor Team Hart before Sunday, March 24.
