Service celebrates 80-year milestone in town

A GROUP which helps the ex-service community and its families will celebrate 80 years in a town next month.

The Tring and Berkhamsted Royal British Legion Women’s Section will recognise eight decades in Tring with a thanksgiving service at St Peter and St Paul Church in High Street on Friday, February 10.

Chairman Penny Hearn said: “In the 80 years I don’t think there has been a month when the section hasn’t held a meeting.”

She added: “Hopefully people will learn a little about the British Legion from 80 years ago and we will get a few new members.”

The service starts at 2pm before refreshments at the Red Cross Hall in Faversham Close.

The group meets on the second Wednesday of every month from 2pm until 4.15pm.

To sign up, call Mrs Hearn on 01442 824949.
