Berkhamsted bin fire ‘started deliberately’

editorial image

Firefighters rushed out to tackle a bin that had been set ablaze in Berkhamsted on Saturday night.

They got to Swing Gate Lane and put out the flames in just under 15 minutes after a 7pm 999 call.

Herts Fire & Rescue Service spokesman Andrew Dawson said: “It looks like it was started deliberately.”

But police spokesman Sarah Spence said that although police were told about the blaze, they did not send any officers to the scene.
