Road experts called in to find Tring parking woe solution

Highways officials are being called in to assess the dangers of cars parking on both sides of Western Road in Tring.

The town council decided to get in touch with Hertfordshire Highways after a number of neighbours voiced their concerns for road safety in the area.

Claudia Webster, who lives by the road, said: “It’s an accident waiting to happen. It’s particularly bad near Miswell Road and Chapel Street.

“For motorists coming onto Western Road it’s hard to see what’s coming because of all the parked cars.

“I think it would be hard for emergency vehicles to get through when it’s busy and it should be clearer because it’s the town’s main through road.”

Claudia suggested that the cars should only be allowed to park on one side of the road.

Ward councillor for the area Harvey Allison said: “People in the area contacted me directly about this issue so we’re getting someone in from Hertfordshire Highways to investigate options to make it better.”
