Tring store owner back selling food after getting the all clear

THE owner of a convenience store that was banned from selling food and drink because of a rat infestation is hoping that his customers will come back now that the building has been given the all clear.

Gurunathan Prapaharan, who is the owner of The Old Stables in Miswell Lane, Tring, has been allowed to sell food and drink since Friday, June 22, when environmental health inspectors did their final inspection.

He said: “I’m hoping the customers will come back. I’ve been running this shop for 10 years and this is the first time something like this has happened.

“This is an old building and somehow the rats got in but we’ve rectified that now by cleaning everywhere and sealing the holes.”

Dacorum Borough Council took Mr Prapaharan to court on June 13 where it was granted permission to ban the shop selling food and drink due to the health risk.
