This annual autumn show, organised by Herts Visual Arts, runs for three weeks from September 6 to 28 and entry to participating exhibitions is free.

Open studios project manager Linda Warminger said: “Herts Open Studios 2014 has 154 artists exhibiting in 94 unique exhibitions across Hertfordshire. There’s a mix of regular exhibitors and new artists and craftmakers, all showing their latest pieces, and keen for you to see what they’re doing.”

For those that like prints and paintings, look out for Berkhamsted-based Brigid Marlin who uses traditional techniques from the Italian Renaissance masters to achieve a bright translucent quality in her paintings. She also has prints and sculptures on show.

Or visit Phil Madley, in Wilstone, who creates vibrant techniques to create portraits and figurative studies in oil.

For those that like three dimensional jewellery, take a trip to see Hannah Simpson’s expertly crafted hand-made jewellery, or view Jenny Gunn’s modern 3D pieces, which are created in hand cut, painted, gilded, engraved and layered paper.
