A COFFEE shop owner is taking on a gruelling cycle challenge to help raise money to send a five-year-old girl on a life-saving trip to America.

Aron Sharma, who owns the Espresso Lounge in Tring High Street, will be setting off on Sunday, April 15 to cycle from Dumfries in Scotland to his shop, all in just 48 hours.

The 32-year-old wants to raise as much money as he can for Niamh Curry who suffers with a rare and aggressive type of childhood cancer called neuroblastoma and who could be saved by treatment in America.

Aron said: “I saw her parents’ appeal on Twitter and really thought I could help so I called her dad and told him that I wanted to do something to raise money and awareness of their plight.”

The youngster from Wellingborough was diagnosed in 2010 when she was just three years old and has undergone surgery to remove a tumour on her kidney, several rounds of chemotherapy, radiotherapy and stem cell treatment.

When doctors told her family they could continue treatment but that there was no chance of a cure, her parents, Chris and Samantha, launched a campaign to raise £450,000 to pay for treatment abroad.
