Fans of haggis and ceilidh dancing have the chance to don their kilts and tartan and celebrate Burns Night in aid of local charity Hope For Children.

The good cause is organising a Scottish evening at Abbot’s Hill School on Saturday to raise money for its small grants programme, which provides cash help of between £25 and £300 help families of disadvantaged children to buy vital equipment such as cots and wheelchairs.

Guests will be treated to a three course meal with wine and entertainment including traditional pipers all the way from Scotland to help everyone get into the swing of the Caledonian celebration.

Chair of the organising team Aliki Kouzelis from Bovingdon was asked to get involved by the charity’s founder Bob Parsons.

She said: “When I first started volunteering for the charity I knew they did really good work but it wasn’t until I read Bob’s autobiography that I realised the extent to which they make a difference.

“They will always help people out. No cause is too small.”

Tickets are £35 from Rachel Simkin on 01442234561 or rs@hope4c.org.
