MORE than 500 people turned out to celebrate the 30th anniversary of a community centre and to find out what activities were on offer.

The crowds of people who attended Tring Community Centre’s birthday bash in Silk Mill Way on Saturday helped to raise £310 for the local branch of the Alzheimer’s Society.

Centre manager Karen Bowden said: “It was smashing. The hall was so full.

“There were activities by the groups that use the hall and I know that some people stayed all day.”

The Co-operative mini supermarket next door joined in the fun by setting up a barbecue for visitors and made a cash donation to the charity.

Karen said: “The day definitely helped to tighten community ties.”
