A charity for the elderly is calling on all knitters to help it reach its target of 10,000 miniature hats to help run vital services such as a winter warmth campaign.

Age UK Dacorum stands to make 25p from each kitted out Innocent Smoothie bottle sold, but they are 1,000 short of their target and need more help.

Chairman Mike Moore said: “Winter can be a really difficult time of year for many older people, so it’s important that knitters get behind the Big Knit to help raise funds for vital winter projects.”

Call 01442 259049 to get a free hat pattern. Wool and needles can be donated or a £3 donation can be made to this winter’s Spread the Warmth campaign by texting ’knit’ to 70004.
