Americans swoop for a rising star

An American giant has swooped to buy one of the three Dacorum firms that won a prestigious Queen’s Award for Enterprise at the weekend.

Visual communication specialist Symon Dacon, which employs 36 people in Enterprise Way, has been acquired by RMG Networks.

Symon Dacon was praised in the Queen’s Awards announced on Sunday for achievements in international trade. Its main export markets are the UAE, Europe and new markets include Saudi Arabia Overseas sales growth was 149 per cent over three years with exports accounting for 38 per cent of total sales.

Two other world leading firms also received Queen’s Awards for Enterprise.

Windmill maker Renewable Energy Systems, in Egg Farm Lane, Kings Langley, was also recognised for international trade.

And FFEI, in Boundary Way, picked up an innovation award for developing of a digital slide scanning system that has enabled advances in cancer diagnosisg.

Yolanda Rugg, of Hertfordshire Chamber of Commerce, congratulated the winners. “We are very proud of all of Hertfordshire’s world class businesses recognised for outstanding achievements.”
