FURRY, scaled and feathered friends have been treated to newer surroundings after a makeover at a Hemel Hempstead pet shop.

Animaltastic in Queens Square, Adeyfield, recently had a major refurbishment.

Co-owner Nathan Coles said: “The shop has got a completely brand new interior, giving us a fresher approach and a better experience for customers.

“We’ve got brand new areas, which help to show off the store as best as possible.

“Before the shop was quite run-down and old-fashioned so this is a big change.

“We did a lot of the work ourselves but it still ended up costing quite a bit.

“We’re not the biggest pet shop but we make up for it with our range of animals and all the products we sell.”

Nathan, a part-time zookeeper at London Zoo, has run the store for just over two years with business partner Steven Patrick.

The shop sells a wide range of animals including reptiles, fish, and domestic birds, as well as more unusual pets such as sugar gliders.
