The annual Ukes for Unicef ukulele festival attracted huge crowds of people to the Berkhamsted Civic Centre on Saturday.
Among the performing acts was Sam Brown’s International Ukulele Club of Sonning Common – led by and named after the singer of the 1989 hit single Stop!
Another player, called Nico’o, came all the way from France for the festival.
But the performers to get what was perhaps the biggest cheer from the crowd were in the band from Berkhamsted’s Thomas Coram School.
The festival was organised by the Berkhamsted Ukulele Random Players (BURP!).
Radio Dacorum covered it live, as the event coincided with the station’s second birthday. BURP! also featured on the station during its opening day and its first birthday.
All of the acts were performing for free and proceeds from the event – where guests were encouraged to donate £5 for entry – will go to global children’s charity Unicef.
