Apples were the order of the day

Apple Day at Jeacocks Orchard

Apple Day at Jeacocks Orchard

People that attended the Apple Day at Jeacocks Orchard in Tring bought 350 kilos of the in-season fruit.

There was a steady stream of people at the orchard and also Cow Lane Farm on Sunday and there were plenty of activities for them to take part in to celebrate the launch of Tring Apple Fayre, which run throughout the month.

Heavy horse ploughing (pictured) and vintage tractor ploughing demonstrations took place at the farm while farmers’ market stalls and local crafts were at the orchard.

Youngsters and their families tried out traditional skills, such as spinning, weaving and straw plaiting, and many people also enjoyed pony trap rides.

Organiser Martin Hicks said: “It was a very good day. The event proved to be quite popular.”
