Arson probe launched after Grovehill postbox fire

An arson investigation has been launched by police after a Grovehill postbox was set alight.

Firefighters were called to Crawley Drive, Hemel Hempstead, just before 9pm on Sunday. They used a hosereel to put out the flames.

A spokesman for Royal Mail said: “There was a small amount of mail in the box that was recovered and some of these items were damaged. We will be delivering these items of mail to the addressees, with a letter of apology for the damage caused by the fire.

“If any customer has a concern about mail they posted in the box, following the last collection on Saturday, they should contact our customer service team on 08457 740 740.”
