Golfers helped raise a whopping £17,645 for charity during the 15th annual event of its kind.

The Eastwoods Pepper Golf Day at Ashridge Golf Club attracted 92 players.

The winning woman was Jean Davis, the winning man was Glenn Ranger and the winning team was Astute Electronics.

Organiser Janet Edwards said: “The players really enjoyed it. It’s a lot of money to make in one day.

“But from my point of view it has taken about three months of work to get to that one day.”

Businesses sponsoring holes raised £2,580 alone – and events on the day included an auction, raffle and putting competition.

The cash will go towards The Pepper Foundation, which funds nurses for children with life-limiting illnesses in Herts and Bucks.
