SECRET plans have been uncovered that could see the number of passengers using Luton Airport triple.

Despite a recent public consultation on proposals to expand the airport capacity from 9.5 to 18 million per year, Herts County Council has uncovered talks between the airport owner and the Planning Insepctorate to expand up to 30 million passengers per year.

Campaign groups, with support from MP Mike Penning and Dacorum Borough Council, have been fearful of the impact any expansion will have, including a dramatic increase in flights over parts of the borough, especially at night.
