A RESTAURATEUR has breathed new life into a pub formerly owned by Carry On and EastEnders icon Barbara Windsor.

Raffaele Mercurio held an official launch at The Plough in Amersham last week, when guests were able to sample the delights on offer.

The Italian-born businessman from Tring refurbished the pub, which had been closed for two years, and has relaunched it as a Italian British gastro pub and village shop.

He has installed a wood burning oven and decorated the venue on Winchmore Hill in a country style fashion.

Scores of people attended the launch and enjoyed tasters of bruschetta, chicken skewers, steak and smoked salmon.

Much of the fresh and cooked food will be available to buy from the village shop next door.
