Be prepared for new scout group places

YOUNGSTERS on the waiting list to join scouting in the area have more of a chance to get a place as four new groups are planned to start next year.

West Herts Scouting district commissioner Ian Cutler revealed to the Gazette that the group is hoping to start up two beaver colonies and two scout troops.

Berkhamsted and Potten End are earmarked for beaver colonies while Little Gaddesden and Gossoms End will have scout troops.

It has been made possible because two adults came forward to offer their help after the Gazette reported that young people in the area were missing out on joining scouts due to lack of leaders.

Mr Cutler said: “We are hoping to be able to start the groups next year as currently we are in the process of the CRB checks, which will determine whether we can go ahead.
