Organisers of a summer celebratory lunch in Adeyfield are calling for people to get into the community spirit.

The Big Coronation Lunch on Sunday, June 2 will encourage neighbours to get together and share food in a simple act of friendship and fun in the neighbourhood’s Queen’s Square.

Sarah Hubbard, a tenant involvement officer who is helping to plan the event, said: “We’re collaborating The Big Lunch, which is a national event, with a celebration of the 60th anniversary of the Queen’s coronation.

“We would love for residents to get involved and be part of the celebrations.”

The free event, which will run from midday to 4pm, is not just for those living in Adeyfield, but for all people in Hemel Hempstead.

Charities and community groups are being given the chance to run a stall on the day – this could be anything from a cake or jewellery stall to a tombola or lucky dip.

Local performers are being encouraged to come forward to show off their talent during an entertainment slot.

The Adeyfield Community Centre will house an array of nostalgic artefacts from around the time of the coronation in 1953, including photos, stories and memorabilia.

Those wanting to host a stall, perform at the event or help with the memorabilia stand, can call Sarah on 01442 228006.
