A charity pub event in aid of anti-knife crime charity Billy’s Wish exceeded its £1,500 funding target despite the damp bank holiday weather.

The Rose and Crown pub in Kings Langley held the family fun day on Saturday – complete with a bouncy castle, children’s games and a barbecue – and raised the grand total of £1,625.

Steven Hulme, team leader at the pub, said: “It feels amazing to be able to donate such a huge amount.

“The day went really well even though the weather wasn’t with us, and everyone was really supportive. They really got behind it.”

Billy’s Wish was set up by Paul Dove in memory of his son and Hemel Hempstead murder victim Billy following his death in November 2011.
