A man who pledged to grow his beard and dye it a different colour every month has raised more than £1,000 for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Ben Baldwin is taking on the bizarre challenge to raise money in memory of his partner Jane’s nephew, Luke Wilds, who died from CF last year aged just 21.
Ben, of Crabtree Lane, Hemel Hempstead, hopes his technicolour beard will drum up support for his charity football match on May 19.
The game will be a Hemel Hempstead versus Watford derby as Ben and his work pals take on the Wilds family team in their home town.
Ben said: “Losing Luke inspired me to help make the family feel better, and get a smile back on their faces. I never usually have a beard and I can’t stand it. I have been tempted to shave it off but this is too important.”
The Nisa store on Crabtree Lane has also been collecting sponsorship for Ben. He hopes to raise £1,500.
