Bumnotes play from the heart for Maxine

The father of an actress who passed away suddenly earlier this year has got two bands together to play a fundraising gig in her memory.

Dave Reece will play drums for The Bumnotes and Elton Tom and the Rocket Men at The Court Theatre in Tring on Saturday at 7.30pm.

The event will raise funds for The Evelina Children’s Heart Organisation at St Thomas’s Hospital, which supported Maxine Reece throughout her life.

Dave said: “Maxine was born with a congenital condition and the prognosis was fairly bad. We were told she probably wouldn’t live past five years old but they looked after her and gave her 30 years of life.

“Heart children are living longer because of the investment charities like Evelina get.”

Maxine lived life to the full as a member of the The Court Theatre Limited and didn’t let her congenital heart defect stop her from performing in shows from the age of five.

She passed away on April 14 and her family have always said that she lived a happy life.

As a member of The Bumnotes, Dave has supported the band in raising more than £50,000 in the 20 years it has been going and is looking forward to collecting more cash for the service that was essential to his daughter’s life.

Half the proceeds from the night will also go to the MS Centre in Halton.

Tickets cost £15, which includes a fish and chip supper, and are available from Brian Miles on 01442 824778.
