Burglars smash through patio door at Markyate home to snatch gold plated clock

An ornamental gold plated clock was snatched from a village home after burglars smashed through the property’s patio door.

Money was also taken during the break-in, which happened on Monday at around 5.30pm in Pickford Road, Markyate.

PC Claire Wright said: “I am keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area that afternoon.

“I would also like to speak with anyone who believes they have seen this clock for sale or knows someone who may have come into possession of a clock like this in suspicious circumstances.”

The French reproduction clock is 14 inches high and seven inches wide with a porcelain face that has two cherubs on it.
