AN international manufacturer of digital radios is drawing up plans to expand its current site in Kings Langley, a move that could bring 400 new jobs to the area.

Imagination Technologies, the parent company of PURE digital radios, is looking to redevelop its headquarters in Home Park Industrial Estate overlooking the Grand Union Canal.

The new state-of-the-art three storey office building will be able to house 1,000 members of staff in total, and will have a strong environmental focus.

It has been designed to achieve a rating of excellent under the BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment) system of sustainable buildings.

The office building will incorporate a number of key features to help it achieve its top level environment-friendly status such as special devices to control the flow of water into the building in a bid to stop it from being wasted.

It will be airtight and insulated to reduce heat loss, and construction materials will be sourced locally as much as possible. The design will make the most of the natural light so that the need for artificial lighting is reduced as much as possible.

The office block, which can be seen as an artist’s impression on the left, will include bicycle storage and changing facilities to encourage members of staff to avoid driving into work.

The company says that the new building, which is likely to be completed and occupied by late summer next year, will create the space needed to grow and will improve the working environment of staff.

Imagination Technologies is a British company that has had success with the creation and licensing of system chips and the development and manufacture of connected audio and DAB digital radios through its PURE brand.
