A HEMEL Hempstead company has got behind the latest land speed record attempt by sponsoring the Bloodhound supercar.

Printing technology firm FFEI, based in Boundary Way, has become an official sponsor of the Bloodhound Super Sonic Car, which is designed to reach speeds in excess of 1,000mph.

The project director is Richard Noble. Andy Green, the driver, previously set the current record of 763.035mph in 1997 with their Thrust Super Sonic Car.

FFEI managing director Andy Cook said: “The Bloodhound project represents the very best of British engineering, and being a UK company ourselves who constantly push the technology boundaries, we have a lot in common with the project.

“The UK economy desperately needs more home-grown talented engineers and scientists so that companies like ours can flourish in the future.”
