Tring spa continues despite fire

A DAY spa owner, who has been left devastated after a fire destroyed her salon and stock, is determined to soldier on with her bookings because she does not want to let her clients down.

Katie Hill of Totality Day Spa in Tring, has promised to keep as many of her appointments with her clients as she can, following the fire on Monday, May 28.

Much of the premises on Miswell Lane has been smoke damaged from the fire that started at about 7pm.

Katie said: “It happened about an hour and a half after I left and by that time I was at home putting my kids to bed when a friend called to tell me.

“It’s a mess. I have no idea how it started but the firefighters said it could have been an electric spark in the staff room.

“There is mostly smoke damage and the heat has melted everything. It’s so sad.”

The beauty therapist and her staff spent today trying to rearrange appointments and repair the damage to the salon.

Initially Katie was planning on going mobile but Tring businessman Peter Borg-Neal came to the rescue by allowing the business to use a space in Akeman Street that Katie had previously used as a pop-up salon called Totality Xpress Bar.

The Totality Xpress Bar recently closed after coming to the end of a six month lease in April but now the base will help keep the business alive in the midst of the disaster.

The full details of what will be available at the temporary salon are yet to be finalised and Katie has posted on her news site that she will be getting in touch with clients, who have appointments as soon as possible.

Customers should call 07834 384 379 for urgent appointment enquiries.
