Historic and vintage vehicles were looking their shiny, polished best in Sunday’s sunshine.
The Spirit of Dacorum car tour saw 100 wheeled wonders of all shapes and sizes converge on Pendley Manor Hotel’s event field in Tring.
Margaret Kingston, of organiser Dacorum Community Trust, said: “One of our drivers said it was the perfect day, which is quite a compliment.”
The event raised a whopping £8,000 to help an increasing number of people in need across the borough.
The Paper Mill fire engine was one of the main attractions of the event, which included vehicles from 1906 right up to a Ferrari from last year taking part in a three-pronged tour around Hemel Hempstead, Berkhamsted and Tring. Mayor of Dacorum Herbert Champman also joined in the tour.
Graham Wood’s Austin Healey 3000 MKII received the David Furnell Trophy in the event sponsored by Dacorum Look No Further, Total UK, NGK Sparkplugs, FFEI and other local companies.
It looks likely that the event will become an annual one in the borough. The organisers have already put Sunday, May 4, 2014 in the diary and are looking for sponsors.
