Vault fault causes Barclays branch in Hemel Hempstead to close this morning

A Hemel Hempstead bank branch has reassured customers after it was forced to close unexpectedly this morning.

Staff at the Barclays store on Wood Lane End discovered a fault with one of its safes and called in engineers to fix the problem.

The branch was shut for the morning but the cash machine was still available for use. Customers wishing to pay in money were redirected to the nearest branch at Bank Court in the town centre.

A bank spokesman said: “We apologise to customers for any inconvenience being caused by our Wood Lane End, Hemel Hempstead, branch not being fully operational today. We worked hard to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.”

The safe has now been fixed and all facilities were resumed by around noon.
