A top-class butcher is battling to bag honours in annual high-profile product evaluation competition the Q Guild Smithfield Awards.
A total of 479 products from 54 Q butchers nationwide, virtually half of the national membership, have been entered for this year’s sizzling showcase.
There are eight product categories.
Eastwoods of Berkhamsted has entered eight products in total – Old English Pork Sausage, Lock Keepers Ale Pork Sausage, Pink Pepper and Smoke Beefburger, Steak and Red Wine Pie, Apricot and Rosemary Pork Pie, Ham and Cheese Quiche, Mini Turkey Wellington and Wellington Whirl.
Q Guild national chairman, West Yorkshire butcher Brindon Addy, said: “They have an opportunity to win some of the meat industry’s most prized accolades and this year is one of the biggest entries we have had for quite some time.”
