Villagers in Little Gaddesden are putting surplus apples to good use with a community collection this weekend.
To coincide with the local produce market, a trailer from Chiltern Ridge will be in the village hall on Church Road from 9.30am on Saturday, and all those with a glut of apples in the local area are encouraged to drop them off.
The fruit will be taken to the press near Chesham and transformed into juice, which will be sold by the village’s local groups and charities to raise funds.
Jane Christian, who runs the produce market, said: “There are so many elderly people in the village whose trees are laden with apples, but they need help picking them.
“We’d love to see others come down and help out, even if it’s just carrying a bucketful.”
