A CARE home group has involved old folk and staff to support troops serving overseas with morale-boosting care parcels filled with goodies.

More than 500 shoebox-sized packages have already been sorted by the Barchester Healthcare group which has offices in Mill Street, Berkhamsted and homes elsewhere in Herts.

Director of operational finance Carol Gabbitass and her team of 16 business managers across the country worked together to organise the donation of boxes to the Support Our Soldiers charity.

She said: “We hope they enjoy the goodies we have put together and that it lifts their morale while stationed away from their families and friends.

Formed in March 2003, Support Our Soldiers provides much needed support for troops serving overseas and their families at home.

The boxes were packed by residents and staff of Barchester homes around the country and contained a variety of items from toiletry items, chocolate, soup and tea bags.

Carol added: “This is a great idea to support our troops overseas.”
