A CARER will have her luscious locks shaved off to rake in cash for a cause close to her heart.

Cathy Eggers will lose her tresses at 1pm on Saturday in Hemel Hempstead’s town centre to raise funds for the children’s charity Noah’s Ark.

She is a part-time specialist carer with the good cause, which is based in Barnet and helps youngsters with life limiting and life threatening conditions.

In her role Cathy, of Downside in Hemel Hempstead, gives respite to families within their own homes.

The 47-year-old said: “I have been working with Noah’s Ark for the past year and I’m constantly astounded and inspired by the children – they’re just amazing – they don’t complain or moan about their illness, they just get on with it.”

She will face the chop at the hands of staff from Cutting Edge hair salon in Marlowes.

The head shave will take place outside the New Look store inside the Marlowes Shopping Centre.

Cathy has already raised more than £1,000 for the cause and now her cousin Gregor Marshall, of Woodhall Farm in Hemel Hempstead, has also promised to get his locks chopped to raise money.

The 36-year-old will join Cathy for the big shave in front of shoppers.
