Children sang carols to Violet Deighton to help her celebrate her 100th birthday.
And in return, they got lots of toys to take back to their Hemel Hempstead pre-school, Lime Grove Day Nursery.
Kelly Barnett, one of its team leaders, said: “The children loved it and were really excited and gave her hugs and sang happy birthday a few times.”
The toys were from Violet and her neighbours from Emerton Garth retirement homes in Northchurch.
The children marked their harvest festival in the autumn by giving them 35 boxes full of treats.
All of Violet’s friends and family came to Emerton Garth for her milestone birthday party.
Estate manager Marilyn Barnett, Kelly’s mum, said: “We had about 40 to 50 people here from all generations. Violet loved it.”
