There are plenty of volunteering opportunities available in the run-up to the festive season.
Be a Salvation Army angel this Christmas
Could you bring some Christmas cheer to those less fortunate than you?
Hemel Hempstead’s Salvation Army has put out a call for volunteers drivers to ensure the smooth running of its annual Christmas Day Dinner.
Last year over 180 elderly and isolated people enjoyed lunch at the citadel on Waterhouse Street, or a meal delivered to their door by real life Christmas angels.
None of this can happen this year without the help of a team of volunteer drivers to deliver meals on wheels or pick up guests at around mid-day in time for their delicious lunch and then drop them home again at around 3.30pm.
If you can save the day for of needy people, the Salvation Army team would love to hear from you.
Share your admin skills with sporty side
Hertfordshire Netball, one of the largest counties for netball in England, are looking to recruit a volunteer Secretary/Administrator for this key role. You will provide administrative support for county committee meetings including preparing agendas and taking minutes.
You would also take the lead in organising the annual awards evening.
The right volunteer should be self-motivated with good organisational and IT skills.
This role is largely home based but meetings – nine per year – are held in Hatfield at the De Havilland campus of the University of Hertfordshire.
Role for a people-person at Citizens Advice Bureau
Are you a people person with good communication and administration skills? If so CAB would really love you to help them. Based at Dacre House in Hillfield Road, you would support the Office Manager and other team members in the day to day admin of the CAB advice services to their clients. The is a varied role that involves directing telephone calls within the bureau, booking appointments using the electronic appointment system as well as helping with filing and ordering stationery.
