A selection of the opportunities available this week through Volunteer Centre Dacorum.
Home-grown charity Hope for Children needs new volunteers for two vital roles in its office in Bridge Street, Hemel Hempstead.
Hope for Children works on behalf of disabled, orphaned, poor and exploited children in the UK and abroad.
They provide basic necessities and promote the rights of children. It’s a busy time of year for the Hope finance team and they need help from experienced volunteers.
The role involves helping to process and record incoming donations from fundraising websites.
Previous financial and data analytical experience are essential as are IT skills and a willing and flexible approach.
Help is needed for two or three days each week for at least four hours per day.
A volunteer receptionist is needed to be the first point of contact for any enquiries coming in to the Hope office.
Tasks include welcoming visitors, answering phone calls, taking messages and even making the tea.
The right volunteer will be friendly and approachable with a good telephone manner and basic computer skills.
You would be joining a small and friendly team and need to make a regular commitment for at least two days per week for four hours each day.
Community Action Dacorum is looking for a new volunteer administrator to join the community cars scheme.
The scheme uses volunteers with their own cars to provide a service to those within Dacorum who are unable to use normal public transport.
The admin team deals with enquiries, record booking details and liaise with volunteer drivers to allocate jobs.
Even if you can’t volunteer on a regular basis, you can help lots of Dacorum based charities by taking part in Volunteer Centre Decorum’s fun packed event in the Marlowes on Saturday, June 1.
We need donations for our tombola stall, prizes for our competitions and practical help on the day. If you can help in any way we would love to hear from you.
