Family and friends of Gadebridge dad Chris Hill released Chinese lanterns in his memory on what would have been his 49th birthday yesterday (Wednesday).

Among them were Chris’ three young children - Kira, 16, and 12 year old twins Jamie and Cameron - who wrote messages on the sky lights before releasing them into the night at a park in Adeyfield, Hemel Hempstead.

Chris’ bestfriend Mark Strong said: “We all came together in memory of Chris. It was tough to say the least.

“The children miss him everyday.
“He was such a big part of all of our lives.”

During their younger years close pals Chris and Mark became local celebrities when their graffiti and breakdancing skills attracted sponsorship from Adidas and appearances on television shows. They were also commissioned to do local works of art in and around Hemel Hempstead.

Chris tragically died suddenly at his home earlier this year from a suspected cardiac arrest.

A fundraising Halloween night is being held in his memory to raise money for Chris’ children for essentials like football boots and school equipment - after securing top GCSE grades earlier this year, Kira is now studying at Elstree Film School.

The 1980s themed fancy dress occasion - being organised by Mark with pal and DJ Ian Bateman - is being held at Hemel Hempstead Football Club, which has been given free of charge by owner Dave Boggins, on Friday, October 31 from 8pm.

Raffle prizes, including beauty treatments, massages, golf days and other goodies, have been donated to the event but Mark is still appealing for donations in a bid to raise as much as possible. A framed signed T shirt by football’s Lionel Messi will be auctioned off to boost funds further.

All money raised will go into a trust fund that Mark and Chris’ family have set up for his family.

Tickets cost £7.50 each and can be purchased on the door on the night or in advance by contacting Mark on 07968 595204 or email mark.strong1@ntlworld.com.
