Christmas has come early for a Dacorum charity which is starting up a new club in Berkhamsted thanks to ITV’s Text Santa programme.

Age UK Dacorum already runs seven successful day clubs for the elderly across Hemel Hempstead, but thanks to funding secured from the 2012 Christmas-themed television show just last week, they can now replicate their success in Berkhamsted.

Community fundraiser Michelle Law said: “The idea is to give people a change of scenery and get them chatting with other people.

“We are now starting to look for a venue and we will be needing volunteers to help us.”

The national Age UK charity will also be one of the good causes to benefit from this year’s Text Santa show.
