Two famous funny men have been tramping across the Chilterns this week in preparation for a charity event.

Never Mind The Buzzcocks panellist Bill Bailey was joined by his pal and 8 Out Of Ten Cats star Sean Lock on the Ridgeway Path as part of Bill’s training plan for an 87-mile charity walk.

Bailey, who starred in Channel 4 sitcom Black Books, posted photos along the route as he and Sean covered Ivinghoe Beacon, Pitstone Hill, Wigginton and Wendover on Monday (July 13).

Talking to his fans, he said: “From Ivinghoe Beacon we set out for Wendover, and almost immediately got lost in a wood, but this meant we were treated to the most magical sight today, of male fallow deer leaping a fence.

“After a couple of sarnies sitting on a log near Wigginton, we managed to get lost again in another wood but somehow emerged near a chip shop.

“Then some fine Adnam’s Ghost Ale in the Red Lion. If you’re near the Ridgeway next week, gis a wave.”

On his Just Giving fundraising page, the Have I Got News For You panellist said: “On July 20th I shall begin a 6 day walk across 87 miles of Britain with the aim of raising as much money as possible for Cancer Research.

“Following a route used since prehistoric times by travellers, herdsmen and soldiers, the 87-mile long Ridgeway passes through ancient landscapes of downland, secluded valleys and woodland through the Chiltern Hills and across the North Wessex Downs.

“I’ve chosen Cancer Research as my charity to support as, like most people in the world, I have lost loved ones as a result of the disease and would like to contribute in some way to the efforts towards finding a cure.

“If you would like to sponsor me, I would be much obliged.”
