A homeless stray budgie has been offered a second chance after spending nearly a month being cared for at a veterinary surgery.
Blue bird Antonio was found flying free in Callaghan Court, Berkhamsted, in early November and was handed in to St Johns Veterinary Surgery on the High Street.
Staff put out an appeal to try and reunite Antonio with his owner, but no one came forward to claim him.
But after reading about the bird’s plight on this website, a lady contacted the surgery and offered Antonio a home if his owner didn’t come forward.
A staff member at the surgery said: “He went off a very happy bird in his new cage.”
