Do you know a lollipop lady who goes the extra mile? Or someone who runs a walking school bus?
These people and others who are promoting road safety can be recognised for their hard work at the Hertfordshire County Council 2014 School Travel Awards.
Nominations will be judged in school travel – for encouraging safe, green and active travel – road safety, school crossing patrol of the year, walking bus champion, walking and cycling champion and school council innovation.
Cabinet member for highways and transport Terry Douris said: “These awards are an opportunity to thank people around the county who have played a role in promoting road safety and for getting involved in their community. They’re also a great way to encourage schools to promote sustainable transport to their students, as well as sharing their best practice.”
Nominations can be made online at www.hertsdirect.org/schooltravel. The closing date is February 7, and winners will be announced at an awards ceremony in Hertford on March 25.
