A final recruiting call has been issued for a charity challenge that’s sure to be worth the weight.
The deadline for entries to the 2013 Hospice Of St Francis Biggest Loser fundraiser is only a week away.
Anyone interested in joining the team aiming to lose weight and raise cash for the Northchurch-based good cause needs to register by next Wednesday, February 27.
The 20 fundraisers selected to make up this year’s Biggest Loser band will get some heavyweight support to help them reach their goals, including coaching at Sportspace in Hemel Hempstead and membership of other venues in the borough, as well as individual guidance from nutritional therapist Alyson Carter of Nutrition 4 Life.
There’s more than £700 worth of personalised support and expertise on offer to everyone taking part in the project, with prizes on offer to those who record the greatest percentage loss of body weight.
The 12-week course kicks off in mid-March and includes a clutch of personal training sessions to use throughout the challenge, as well as group training and weekly weigh-in sessions.
John Arthur, last year’s overall champion, urges anyone looking to make a lifestyle change to step forward.
He said: “To be able to support a very worthy cause and raise much needed funds was important to me.
“But to have the opportunity to work with a dedicated and talented team of people in order to improve my own health and quality of life was brilliant.
“To those embarking on your journey embrace the changes, challenge yourselves, don’t make excuses, persevere and you can succeed.”
If you fancy rising to the challenge, there are only a few days left in which you can express an interest. Visit www.stfrancis.org.uk/biggestloser for full details or contact Harriet Karia of the hospice fundraising team on 01442 869555.
