A 49 year old man made his first appearance at St Albans Crown Court this morning charged with the murder of Mark Hopkinson in Borehamwood last year.

Mark Fagence, of Apple Cottages, Bovingdon, is accused of killing the 36-year-old from Watford at an address in Theobald Street on November 6.

Mr Hopkinson’s cause of death was given as “sudden death during restraint.”

Judge Stephen Gullick ordered that Fagence appear back in court on June 17 for a plea and case management hearing.

A date of September 2 was fixed for the trial, which is expected to last around six days.

He was remanded in custody.
