New police and crime commissioner David Lloyd (pictured left, centre) paid his first official visit to Hemel Hempstead.

He was at the town’s extreme sports centre – the XC – to meet with young members of the Herts Youth Council, staff from careers advice service Youth Connexions and local safer neighbourhood officers. The Herts commissioner, who is also a borough and county councillor, has recently confirmed that he intends to freeze the policing portion of council tax in 2013.

Mr Lloyd said: “Hertfordshire police finances are well managed and I am confident that we shall be able to continue to drive down crime whilst keeping taxes low.”
