Arrest made after pensioner dies three days after alleged golf club attack

A Redbourn man has been arrested following an assault on a pensioner who died three days after suffering head injuries in the attack.

A 51 year old man from the village has been bailed until August 17 after being arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning grievous bodily harm.

The alleged incident is thought to have taken place in the car park of the West Herts Golf Club in Rickmansworth on Saturday evening, when police and paramedics were called following concerns for the welfare of a 65 year old man.

The man died in St Mary’s Hospital in Paddington yesterday morning, where members of his family were present.

Police investigations are on-going.
